It’s a pretty good Hong Kong movie; focuses more on a Buddhist heaven-earth-hell theme than the remake “The Departed” does. Also, it’s a lot shorter in length. The leads are solid and a lot of the shots were copied by Scorsese in his remake. Even if it isn’t your taste, it’s such a defining film for Hong Kong cinema in international film knowledge. It didn’t blow my mind like the hyperkinetic “Fulltime Killer” did, but it’s still worth a watch.
I guess I haven’t (legasp blasphemy) but Tony Leung? I’d watch anything with him in it…well, almost anything.
